अहं त्वयि स्निह्यामि / Ahaṃ Tvayi Snihyāmi (I Find Love in You)

Sale Price: £270.00 Original Price: £350.00

This piece is made up of thick layers of collaged text from old books, burlap, and loose fabric, thick acrylic paint, and pastel. The Sanskrit phrase अहं त्वयि स्निह्यामि (ahaṃ tvayi snihyāmi) translates loosely as “I love you,” but more precisely as “I find love in you.” It gestures toward the idea that while love may be ignited through others, its true source lies within ourselves.

The central figure is in a state of quiet, holding a quiet gaze of inner knowledge. The faces and forms that emerge in my work are not always based on visual references, but often arise intuitively, from which the source is not always known, but hold ancestral significance.

The single tear has become a recurring symbol in my practice, representing the courage, growth, and wisdom that comes through vulnerability. Where sensitivity is often framed as weakness, in many ancient traditions, it was seen as a gift, those who felt deeply were the shamans, the seers, the wisdom keepers.

This work offers my meditation on both the sacred and the personal. It comes from the realisation that love is not about possession, attachment or loss of oneself, but something far greater and beyond language. It is also an invitation to return inward and remember that one's source of love is a reflection of ourselves.

Dimensions: 61 × 76cm.

Medium: Acrylic, oil pastel and collaged textiles on canvas.

Ready to hang.
