Artist Biography
I am a multidisciplinary artist of Indo-Guyanese and English heritage. Born and raised in London, I am now based in Cardiff, Wales. My practice is an exploration of emotion and mysticism, weaving together themes of culture, belonging, memory, identity, and the emotional body. It blends elements of neo-expressionism, abstraction, figuration, and cubism.
My process is cyclical—centred on deconstruction and reconstruction—and primarily exploratory: a form of discovery that unfolds as a dialogue between myself, my history, and all that has come before me. I am drawn to art as a means of unearthing; for that reason, my work is gestural, somatic, and unplanned. It is also a form of reclamation and a response to displacement, as well as to the fractures that exist within my own identity and sense of belonging.
I believe art is a universally human experience—not something reserved for the few, as the Western, colonial tradition often suggests. This is a notion I aim to deconstruct. As a practitioner, I am interested in creating spaces where people can come together to share stories, dismantle self-judgement, and reconnect with their innate creativity.
