Kandi & Clai
Kandi & Clai began on the living room floor of our home in South Wales. The name ‘Kandi’ pays homage to both of our surnames and heritage, while clai (pronounced kly) means “clay” in Welsh. We are two independent makers who came together — Tarah, a painter, and Ania, a sculptor — blending our practices into what became our first line of ceramics.
Each piece is handmade and original, a work of art in its own right. The forms emerge through Ania’s sculptural practice and self-taught craft — a process that is as much science as art.
Tarah designs and glazes, layering colours and patterns that evoke the natural world. Together, our ceramics embody the meeting point of our cultural and spiritual identities. Rooted in shared inspiration and experience, they carry our appreciation for all things ancient, earthy, and organic.
